Spuren

Traces
We are surrounded by people, and yet we are often alone. We meet, our paths cross, we seek closeness and connection. One moment we are very close to one another; the next, we drift apart again. Some find each other, while others lose each other – right where they had actually intended to meet.
The city moves fast. Everyone has their own pace, their own story and their own path. People appear and disappear again, transformed by movement and blurring into shadows, silhouettes and traces.
My photographs tell the story of these fleeting encounters, of closeness and distance, of the desire for community and the solitude in between.

Born in Berlin in 1972, the photographer has a background in architecture and draws on this perspective for her artistic photography. Through deliberate camera pans, she breaks down spaces, lines and structures: light and colour become conveyors of atmosphere – a form of painting with the camera at the intersection of movement, people and abstraction.
