URBAN EXTRAS
EXTRAS – so nennt man beim Film diejenigen, die als Statisten mitspielen. Anders als die PLAYER, die das Geschehen maßgeblich bestimmen, tauchen sie eher am Rand auf, sind Zubehör und werden gerne übersehen.
EXTRA – das meint aber nicht nur das Zubehör. Der Begriff betont auch die besondere Qualität von Phänomenen. In meiner Arbeit wende ich mich dieser Ambivalenz des Unscheinbaren und gleichzeitig Besonderen zu.
In welchem Verhältnis stehen die EXTRAS zu ihrem jeweiligen Umfeld? Sagen ihre Praktiken etwas über den Kontext aus, in dem sie aus- und aufgeführt werden? In den Bildern treten die Urban EXTRAS auf ihrer spezifischen Bühne in Erscheinung und können neu und einzigartig wahrgenommen werden. Im Fokus steht dabei nicht die Dokumentation sozialer Wirklichkeiten, sondern die Wahrnehmung des leicht zu Übersehenden.

Aufgewachsen im Ruhrgebiet, inspiriert von Industriekultur und analoger Fotografie, lebt seit 1987 in Berlin. Seit 2015 Weiterbildungen in Fotokursen unter anderem am Photocentrum der VHS Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
Die Stadt als Bühne ist für mich Beobachtungs- und Projektionsraum, der meine szenische Phantasie und meinen fotografischen Blick herausfordert.

URBAN EXTRAS
EXTRAS– that’s the term used in film for those who appear as background actors. Unlike the PLAYERS they are often overlooked.
EXTRA – the term also emphasises the special quality of phenomena. In my work, I explore this ambivalence of the inconspicuous yet simultaneously special.
What is the relationship between the EXTRAS and their surroundings? Do their practices reveal anything about the context in which they are performed and staged? In the images, the Urban EXTRAS emerge on their own specific stage. The focus here is not on documenting social realities, but on perceiving what is easy to overlook.

Grew up in the Ruhr region, inspired by industrial culture and analogue photography; lives in Berlin since 1987. Since 2015, she has been taking further training in photography courses, including at the Photocentrum of the VHS Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.
For me, the city as a stage is a space for observation and projection that stimulates my scenic imagination and my photographic perspective.
